PCOS/PCOD

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome

Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome is one of the most common disorders in today’s young females. PCOD or PCOS is condition in which the Pituitary Gland (present at the base of the brain) releases excessively high levels of Luteinizing Hormone (promotes sexual development and functioning). It directly affects the menstrual cycle and maturation of ovaries and follicles; leading to failure of ovulation and causes infertility. Many of these follicles do not dissolve and remain as fluid filled sacs called Cysts.

When the Pancreas secretes excessively high levels of Insulin, it combines with the imbalanced levels of Luteinizing Hormone. Thus, causes high production of Testosterone; a male sex hormone by the ovaries, this hinders the ovulation process and causes infertility. Some visible symptoms are excessive abnormal hair growth on body and face.
